Known as 'The Pearl of the Mediterranean'. Alexandria is a charming cosmopolitan port city located on the Mediterranean Sea home to over 4 million residents. Alexandria was founded in 332BC by Alexander the Great who planned the city as one of the finest ports in the ancient world.

This city offers remarkable mosques, lovely gardens, the remarkable casino strip of the Corniche and both modern and heritage hotels. Things to see in Alexandria include the National Museum, mosque of Abu Al-Abbas Al Mursi, King Farooks palace and of course Pompeys Pillars and the very well known Alexandria Library.

Alexandria was once the learning centre in the ancient world and even under Cleopatra's rule it rivaled the great cities of Athens and Rome.

Best time to visit is September - October.

Winter (December - February) is fairly warm and sunny however the sea will be too cold to swim comfortably in.
Summer is humid but with a breeze making it cooler then Cairo.
